As a stationery designer based in Bucks County, I’m frequently contacted by couples in my area, those in the city, and others wanting to return home to a place we all know has its own special allure – Philadelphia. Our shared home, or simply favorite, city is filled with countless historical sites and opportunities to explore, a vibrant city center during any season, and some of the most passionate sports fans in the country (myself included). After all, we are the home of our Superbowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles!!! And, that’s before we even talk about weddings.
Whether you’re searching for a venue with a garden vibe (the Horticulture Center), one that matches Philadelphia’s industrial feel (Tendenza or Front and Palmer), or a beautiful ballroom (Ballroom at the Ben or Cescaphe Ballroom) or even a hotel (The Logan, Ritz Carlton, The Bellevue or Sofitel are a few of my favorites), you simply cannot make a wrong venue choice in Philadelphia. And, a great venue and stationery designer will only lead you to more of the city’s top wedding professionals.
Because Philadelphia means so much to so many, invitation suites inspired by the city rank as some of my most requested pieces. Some couples feel inspired by the famed LOVE statue, some request appearances by famed bridges, some adore seeing the city skyline, and others request maps filled with meaningful places for their wedding and as a representation of their lives in the city. No matter the reason, I love hearing why each couple is inspired by Philadelphia’s many details. I love talking through color palettes and wedding styles, desired details and font must-haves, in order to piece together the perfect Philadelphia suite that highlights the city but also never fails to highlight you.
A bow paired with velum can make a suite feel preppy, a skyline created using gold foil will always feel elegant, but a line drawing created with thicker lines and marks for windows might feel more whimsical than a thin line drawing that elicits a more modern feel. Just as your own perception of the skyline may be different than your partner’s, the interpretation we create together to represent your Philadelphia themed wedding invitation can be different than anything else I’ve ever done.
