When it comes to custom wedding invitations, Philadelphia is one of the best places for inspiration! I created these for Stephanie and Eric, who were married on May 3rd at Old St. Mary’s Church. They’re inspired by Philadelphia’s Hotel Monaco, where their reception was held.
Hotel Monaco is a boutique hotel located in the Lafayette Building, which was built in 1907 as an homage to General Marquis de Lafayette. The exterior of the building is designed in the Empire- and Greek Revival style, while the inside is more contemporary. The decor has an eclectic, whimsical vibe. Guest rooms are outfitted with many mirrored surfaces, grandfather clocks, peacocks, and a color palette that emphasizes primary reds, blues, and yellows.
Stephanie and Eric’s wedding colors were purple and green, so I mimicked Hotel Monaco’s iconic wallpaper pattern in purple on this pocketfold invitation. The invitation had a green “C” monogram, and I did Stephanie’s and Eric’s names in the same shade, in the same typeface as the monogram. A bellyband that used the same pattern held the whole thing together.
Stephanie and Eric, I hope you had a beautiful wedding reception at Hotel Monaco! May your married life be just as amazing : )
