A wedding is already a celebration, but when you add in New Year’s Eve to the equation, the party quickly escalates to EPIC. That’s exactly how I felt while I was designing Kelsey and Jason’s day of wedding stationery. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I adore Tonia from Aribella Events. When she contacts me, it’s always for a fun project!
Kelsey and Jason met at a Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball game, so it only made sense for them to celebrate with their guests at the Chase Center on the Riverfront (it’s so close to the stadium!). Tonia and her team transformed the space into a festive wonderland complete for only the best wedding of the year.
White, black, and silver filled the palette, and I loved the unplugged wedding sign that welcomed guests into the first event of the day. As a tip, if you’re planning an unplugged wedding, signs are the best way to go. Guests are able to ready them right when they enter rather than flipping through their program only to notice the ask at a point that’s too late.
Post ceremony, guests joined Kelsey and Jason in the reception space. Tonia’s suggestion to incorporate clocks set to 11:59 into the centerpiece design was such a great idea! We also added in table numbers that weren’t just numbers! Kelsey and Jason worked together to come up with fun New Year’s resolutions, and they also poled their guests for more ideas too. I then turned each idea into a table number that said “Resolution” just before the table number with the goal for the new year below. It was so creative!
Throughout the wedding, Tonia also placed mirror, signature cocktail, and hashtag signage that I designed too. Another one of my favorite details is the hangover bar signage I designed. Just before leaving, guests could add all of the necessities to a bag to take with them in order to cure anything they may feel later in the morning in order to start the new year off on a great foot.
From the getting ready photos to when the balloons fell at midnight, it’s not possible for me to love Kelsey and Jason and their wedding day more…except it is. K+J and their fabulous photos captured by Catherine Coons Photography are featured on Every Last Detail! Make sure to take a peek.
Happy, Happy New Year! I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store!
