Whenever I visit Philadelphia (or design for my clients!), I’m always struck by how well the city’s modern skyscrapers fit in effortlessly with the history seeped into the cobblestone streets. When Cescaphe Event Group acquired and redesigned The Down Town Club in 2013, they were struck by the same juxtaposition. The team set out to create a similar feel inside their Old City venue, and they definitely succeeded.
The Down Town Club feels very modern and chic now, but I’m certain it would have been the place to be during the Industrial Revolution too. But, that’s Philadelphia – a city that bridges the past and the present into styles that are current and timeless yet forever honoring the moments that came before them.
Knowing Michelle and Robert planned to celebrate at The Down Town Club, I knew I wanted to strike a balance between opulent and contemporary. The palette’s blush pink can easily feel opulent when paired with flourishes, while the gold glitter adds the perfect amount of chic, contemporary flair. Plus, the pocketfold on this wedding invitation suite allowed the inserts to stay organized – another modern feature that is never lost on guests!
