I love when couples are just as excited as I am to infuse their wedding invitations with creativity! And, Lynn and Darius were definitely on board. Darius is originally from Canada, and he’s a chef. So, Lynn wanted to honor both his home country and his profession on their invitation suite. The couple also wanted to incorporate modern style into their wedding day at Pen Ryn Estate, so I took all of these details into consideration and started designing.
A folded invitation sounded ideal because it would be a play on a menu at a restaurant. Lynn loved the idea! Then we decided to add their monogram, names, wedding date, and wedding town to the front of the invitation. I thought that would allow the piece to resemble the cover of a menu the most. A quick note about their monogram: we added a maple leaf to honor Canada! Inside, the rest of Lynn and Darius’s wedding day details appeared, including their parents’ names, Lynn and Darius’s full names, timing, and a specific venue mention. When the invitation was flipped onto the back cover, a quote about love was revealed. I loved the true movement of this custom wedding invitation.
Because of the specifics regarding the shape and size of the piece, printing digitally onto cardstock was the best choice. We opted to print white ink onto black matte cardstock, and I think that helped the invitation suite to feel even more modern. We flipped the color order for their RSVP card where black ink was printed onto white matte card stock. We reverted back to printing white ink onto black paper for the rest of their details, including their envelopes.
