When I’m asked to share about my favorite wedding style, I’m always quick to say it’s art deco! I love the glamour of the era, the nod towards slightly modern style, and (of course!) the preferred color palette of black, ivory, and gold. The look is a favorite among many of my couples too, so I was thrilled when Kulynn and Allen announced art deco and “The Great Gatsby” as inspiration for their wedding day.
As we talked further, I learned Kulynn and Allen were planning a formal fete with vintage 1920’s flair. She was going to walk down the aisle toward him at St. Augustine’s Church in Philadelphia, which has a stunning interior. Then they imagined celebrating their new union with their guests well into the night at Cescaphe Ballroom. In order to match their style and incorporate all of their details, a clutch style invitation was in order.
The main invitation layer featured gold foil and black digital printing. I especially loved the art deco detailing we included in all four corners, and their two-letter monogram fit in perfectly at the top of the piece. The same corner detailing carried over to the inserts with one change – we switched to black ink. Another favorite: the shimmery paper we used! We all felt the more sparkle and glam we included, the better.
