Kim and JP celebrated their new marriage on April 29, 2017 during their ceremony at the Chapel of St. Joseph at St. Joseph’s University. Once they were officially Mr. and Mrs., they joined their guests at one of Philadelphia’s most stunning venues, The Fairmount Park Horticulture Center. If you’ve never attended an event at this Stephen Starr exclusive catered venue, you are missing out! Between the fountain, bountiful greenery, and myriad of opportunities to truly transform a space, it is one of Philadelphia’s most beautiful gems. As you can tell, I was very excited to design Kim and JP’s rustic glam invitation suite!
Kim and JP’s invitation was, without a doubt, one of my favorite invitations I have designed to date. I love how Kim asked to combine both embossing, blush watercolor, and deckling (this is what the torn edges are called!). Plus, Kim’s inspiration board blew me away. I could instantly tell she loved paper just as much as I did (and still do!), and I knew I could make her wedding rustic chic invitation dreams come true.
We combined blush watercolor with gray digital printing and embossed a leaf shape on each piece of the invitation. On the main piece, we also embossed Kim and JP’s names below the leaf, and the pair’s wedding date was then printed digitally. To allow the main invitation piece to feel even more elegant, we opted to not introduce watercolor on it. Instead, we saved that detail for the inserts. Every piece was deckled, and the invitation was wrapped with blush silk ribbon. Even the envelope liner included blush watercolor!
I can only begin to imagine being a guest at Kim and JP’s wedding. Even though I couldn’t experience their day in person, designing their invitation suite was such a gift because these two reminded me all over again why I love stationery design and wedding paper. I hope you will love this suite as much as I do once you take a peek at the photos Carly Fuller Photography captured.
