While she was planning her wedding, Katie and her mom, Eileen, visited my studio together. They both mentioned K+A were hoping to send a suite that felt luxurious but also completely classic. Whenever brides, grooms, or family members stop by for a consult, I always start by showing them a few samples of pieces I’ve designed over the years and discuss different types of printing styles. It’s helpful for everyone to not only see the invitations in person, but also feel the paper in person. Invitations have such a different quality to them when you’re holding them rather than simply taking a peek online.
Both Katie and her mom fell in love with one of the more recent gold foil and letterpress suites I designed for Carolann and Daniel. I loved C+D’s suite too! Rather than creating a completely new design, we made modifications to the existing suite’s fonts to match Katie and Andy’s style. We also kept the alternating black and ivory paper and beautiful gold detailing, plus we incorporated letterpress printing. The accommodations and reception inserts were printed in gold foil on black paper, but we opted to print the RSVP card onto ivory paper to match the main suite. Although the timeless palette ranks high among my favorite details, it’s the rounded edges that draw me to this design the most. They’re different, which makes them even more memorable!
Katie and Andy officially became Mr. and Mrs. during a ceremony at Old St. Mary’s Church in Philadelphia before their reception at Cescaphe Event Group’s Downtown Club, which is also located in Philadelphia. I’m certain it was a wonderful way to celebrate their union and Katie’s Bucks County roots. Although the pair may living in New York, there’s truly nothing like a Philadelphia wedding!
