Renee Patrone of Events by Renee has a ton of experience in event planning! She’s been in the industry for over 10 years. I was so thankful I was able to work with her for Jessica and Francis’s Disney-themed Philadelphia wedding. What’s more, she agreed to sit down with me and answer a few questions about herself and her work!
How many clients do you have right now?
We just finished up a very busy wedding season, but we have about 15 clients (brides, corporate and social) booked for 2015!
Do you work alone or with a team?
I work alone but have a wonderful intern and a team of on site coordinators that rock my world. Sometimes they assist me or I send them out if I am unavailable. They are all skilled, hard working and wonderful to be around. I could never work with people that I didn’t jive with!
What are some of the most common challenges that you face when planning a wedding?
The weather! The budget!
What is the most unique or most uncommon challenge you’ve faced, and how did you resolve it?
Power outage the wedding day at a country club. Candles, generators and the grill saved the day!
What is your favorite part of the planning process?
Hearing the couples ideas initially and then watching them evolve into their perfect day.
What’s your favorite venue where you’ve planned a wedding?
Ahh, such a hard question! There are so many wonderful options in the Philadelphia area and I love them all. This is too hard, next question 🙂
What are some of the advantages that come with hiring a planner versus planning a wedding yourself?
We are professionals! We have seen it all and are prepared for any situation. We anticipate everything and know what we are doing. Also, time is money. Wouldn’t the couple rather be doing things like savoring the time up to the wedding with family and friends, versus worrying about the details?
What are some of your favorite wedding trends?
I love personalization, when a bride and groom really bring in their interests whether its a favorite dessert to share with their guests or a personalized logo for the day. As a guest, it makes you feel even more a part of their love story. I am also a sucker for tradition: I adore when one of my brides walks down a church aisle versus another ceremony location. Call me old-fashioned, but I think it’s so special.
Thank you, Renee, for all of your hard work on the wedding we recently worked on together. And thanks for answering my questions! I admire your work so much, and I can’t wait to collaborate with you again in the future.
