For many couples, a save the date is the very first piece of wedding stationery they think to send and design. You want to announce your upcoming wedding date while also announcing that you’re engaged (perhaps with a photo!). Next, your mind wanders to wedding invitations. This is the most formal piece of stationery for your wedding day, and the options are nearly endless! From color palettes to glitter and glam, we can create anything your heart desires together. However, your wedding stationery needs don’t have to stop at your invitations.

On your wedding day, there are so many stationery options (think: programs, signs, menus, and far more!). Today, I thought it would be so beneficial to talk through the pros of custom wedding day stationery. Here are the top three points to keep in mind:

Your design can remain cohesive. While designing your custom wedding invitation, I’m always referring back to your custom save the date. The design process for each piece always varies, but a few elements may remain the same: your style, color palette, textures, and even your font. Simply put, I view each piece I design as part of your larger stationery collection. Your color palette, style, and more don’t end once your invitations are received by your guests. Instead, they must continue because each element represents your event as a whole!

Your stationery tells your story. The last song will play and one final dance will be enjoyed on your wedding day, but there are a few pieces that are everlasting – your photos, video, and stationery. While designing custom wedding stationery, I always want to fill each piece with as much of your personal story as possible. Just like your save the dates and invitations, your ceremony programs tell your story too. Your wedding date is printed; the names of your family and friends are listed with their prominent role in your wedding day; excerpts from readings that ring true to your relationship are noted. Although the best stories never end, great ones have a beginning (save the date), middle (invitation), end (wedding day stationery), and epilogue (thank you cards). Tell your unique story completely, and save your paper pieces long after your wedding day ends.

It’s a necessity. Simply put, wedding day stationery is a must have! Guests want to follow your ceremony completely, and they will look to your program. They need to find their seat, and escort and place cards will guide them to it. They need to be reminded of your wedding menu, so they will turn to your wedding menu cards. Signage will point them in any and every direction. And a thank you card will close their experience post-wedding day!

If you love your palette, style, font, and more, why would you want those elements to change for your wedding day stationery? Let’s continue to build and carry your wedding stationery collection throughout your soiree and tell your unique story together!
