I loved every moment of my wedding day, but there was definitely a part of me that dreamed of tying the knot on New Year’s Eve. The energy at weddings is always infectious, but I have to believe a New Year’s Eve wedding feels simply electric as families and friends join together to celebrate a newly married couple. I’m not yet planning a vow renewal, so I live vicariously through each and every couple who contacts me to design stationery suites for their New Year’s Eve soirees!
Christen and Nick celebrated with their loved ones at Hotel Sofitel in Philadelphia. The hotel has an incredible atmosphere because luxury combines with French elegance, so the feeling at the hotel is always one of timelessness. With such a beautiful backdrop awaiting them, Christen and Nick decided to celebrate both their ceremony and reception at the same locale. I can’t blame them; I would have done the same thing!
Because C+N decided to welcome their marriage and the New Year in the heart of Philadelphia, the city had to play a starring role in their wedding invitation suite. When they opened their invitations, guests were greeted by one of Philadelphia’s most iconic monuments, the LOVE statue, combined with the couple’s names and wedding date. Inside, the main invitation included the Philadelphia skyline, which was simply a requirement for such a special location.
The entire suite was printed on ivory paper that had a gold shimmer. Royal blue was featured throughout in the ink that was digitally printed onto the suite. Before they were mailed, the invitations were placed in a gold shimmer envelope. I think a dose of shimmer or glitter is simply a must for a New Year’s Eve wedding!
Although spring and summer weddings include some of the most beautiful weather, I think December might be the month that feels the most celebratory. It’s the perfect time to tie the knot! Christen and Nick, I hope you had the most incredible end to 2017 and an even more exciting beginning to 2018. Congratulations!
