There are tons of ways to use metallics in your custom wedding stationery. They’re one of my favorite ways to accent an invitation suite. It’s tough to choose, but if I had to, I’d say gold is my favorite metallic shade of all. It’s surprisingly versatile! Here are just five of the ways I’ve used gold in my custom wedding stationery designs:
Gold Glitter
Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t think you can ever have too much glitter! It can be the main event or an accent, like on Amanda and Ross’s blush and ivory wedding invitation suite. It used gold glitter accents on the bellyband, one of the invitation layers, and on the envelope interior.
Gold Thermography
This burgundy and gold thermography wedding invitation suite was created for a styled shoot last year at the Knowlton Mansion. This invitation was printed on burgundy cardstock and used gold glitter which was mixed in the ink to give the invitation some subtle shimmer.
Gold Foil
Lauren and Ashley’s hot pink letterpress wedding invitation suite also included an ornate, gold foil stamped design. Foil is a great way to add shine to your custom wedding stationery! It is a technique that I often use on dark papers, when printed ink would be difficult to read.
Classic + Chic
Classically elegant invitations don’t have to be boring! Tara and Sean’s blind debossed wedding invitation suite is the perfect example of that. They were stamped with a floral lace pattern using an inkless plate, creating a fabric-like texture. I used gold foil to stamp the lettering and the oval around it. A gold glitter bellyband finished everything off!
Soft + Romantic
Gold and blush pink are such a pretty combination. Evamarie and Matt’s blush pink wedding invitation suite used pink card stock under ivory paper. I used a gold bellyband and a gold design at the top left and bottom right corners. I finished them off with a few tiny crystals.
Graphic + Modern
Joscelyne and Mark’s black and white wedding invitation suite had a modern, clean look. I used thermography to print hints of gold on each piece. I think it really elevated the entire suite!
