Have you ever attended or planned a surprise party? There is so much suspense and excitement leading up to the moment when the guest of honor walks through the door, and I cannot imagine planning anything more special for a 60th birthday party. That’s why I was thrilled to work with Chandler and her mom to design a special surprise birthday party invitation for their favorite gent, Chandler’s dad, Tim!
Chandler sent me a note explaining that the party would be held in Tim’s honor at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor. Though the party was planned as a NJ fete, Tim grew up in Philadelphia, attended college, and met Chandler’s mom in the city. A Philadelphia theme was a must! Chandler’s mom had spotted one of my invitations with the Philadelphia skyline and LOVE symbol, so we used that find as the main source of inspiration for Tim’s surprise design.
Tim’s surprise party invitation was a triple layer piece. The top included the famous Philadelphia skyline, and we opted to print the main layer onto ivory metallic cardstock. This was layered on top of gold mirror paper, and the gold mirror paper was layered once more onto another layer of ivory. The look was sharp, the details were prominent, the envelope even featured a mirror gold liner, and I hope Tim loved his party and invitation as much as I enjoyed designing it.
