One of the first questions I ask couples is where they’re planning to get married. I’m always interested to learn if it’s a venue I have designed for before or if it’s a new-to-me location. When I learned Cheylyn and Ryan were planning to tie the knot at The Greenbrier, my very first thought was iconic.
The Greenbrier’s interiors are known for their incredibly colorful Dorothy Draper style, and the resort itself is filled with so much intrigue thanks to its sprawling grounds, rich history, and penchant for formality (many of the restaurants and some of the common areas require proper attire in the evenings – i.e.: jackets for gents and no jeans for anyone). The exterior is bright white – the interior’s perfect opposite.
I designed Cheylyn and Ryan’s invitation suite, which I debuted weeks ago. The design featured leaves and a custom venue illustration of The Greenbrier – no doubt my favorite detail. With such an elegant suite, I had a feeling their wedding would feature much of the same types of classic details. And, it definitely does!
Cheylyn had a sweet and emotional first look with her dad before riding by horse and carriage to The Greenbrier’s onsite chapel. Friends, this chapel is incredible. The crystal chandeliers hanging overhead are effortlessly elegant and chic, and C+R accented the gorgeous look of the space beautifully with a rose petal aisle. Guests had wedding programs to enjoy, which I designed, to detail every moment.
Rather than welcoming their guests inside, I love how Cheylyn and Ryan opted to host their wedding reception outside in a tent. Arrangements filled with roses, hydrangeas, and carnations were centered at every table, and I have to say one of the most striking details was the carnation floral chandelier that hung above. Because The Greenbrier is known for its horses and golfing, I designed table numbers featuring famous horses and golfers. I loved being able to tie their ivory shimmery card stock and burgundy and gold palette into yet another stationery piece!
Cheylyn and Ryan started dancing just as the sun was setting, and it’s clear this family focused pair had quite the night together with the ones they love most. I’m so honored to have designed stationery for your October 7, 2017 wedding, C+R, and I cannot get over the photos Kate Fisher Photography captured. xo
