The wedding is over, but you still have one last task: thank you notes! I recommend that your Philadelphia custom wedding stationery package include thank you notes, so that your guests have one last unique piece to treasure. Many couples choose to have a wedding photo taken specifically for the thank you notes, which is a really nice touch.
The most important thing about thank you notes is staying organized. Make a copy of your guest list with addresses, and write down each guest’s gift as you open them. Be specific!
As you work your way through your thank yous, check them off your list. You should try to get them done two weeks of the wedding, or one month if you go on a honeymoon.
Another thing that trips people up is the wording on thank yous. Using a template makes writing them fast and easy, but that can seem a little impersonal. However, making a personalized statement to 100+ guests would take far too long. Here are a few tips to help you split the difference:
– Make the body of each note only a few sentences.
– The opening should say something like “thank you so much for the [gift]”, “I can’t tell you how much we appreciate the [gift] you gave us”, or “I can’t wait to use the [gift] you gave us”.
– Reserve the next two or three for talking about the gift itself, including why you appreciate it, and how you plan to use it.
– Use your last few sentences to thank your guest for attending your wedding. It’s a nice touch to mention some interaction or memory you have—were they a creative dancer? Did they give a great speech, or share a piece of wisdom with you? Make sure you thank them for it!
Here’s a sample thank you note, which you can easily modify to suit your needs:
Dear Aunt Anna and Uncle Ben,
Thank you so much for the Vitamix blender! [Spouse’s Name] and I are so excited to start our mornings with healthy breakfast smoothies. I’ll be sure to share our favorite recipes with you! We also really appreciated that you came so far to be with us on our special day. Thanks again!
Love, [Your Names]
