I’m always excited to learn how couples discovered April Lynn Designs. Though my all-time favorite will always be referrals from past couples and their families and friends, social media has become a close second. Today’s pair found me through Instagram, which I truly find so exciting! I view Instagram as a community, but it’s always so wonderful to place a name and a story behind a follower and her handle as we explore how we can best work together. So, without further ado, meet Megan and Chris!
Like I mentioned, M+C found me through Instagram. Megan was searching for inspiration for the traditional stationery design she was envisioning for her November 24, 2018 wedding day, and she fell in love with the idea of incorporating laser cut details. They would act as a way to modernize her wedding invitation slightly, and I was completely on board!
Megan and Chris started their day at the incredible Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The church truly is magnificent, and its location near the Franklin Institute and the Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the best in Philadelphia. After they recessed back down the aisle, they gathered with their guests at another iconic Philadelphia location – The Bellevue Hotel – to celebrate for the rest of the evening. It should be noted that The Bellevue Hotel is gorgeous. The entrance is found after driving through a wrought iron arch, rooms are set high above the city, and the ballrooms offer the opportunity to celebrate steps away from Broad Street and City Hall. It’s incredible!
To honor the desired wedding style of Megan and Chris, as well as their iconic venue, we chose to incorporate beautiful burgundy laser cut gates. The detail felt modern, which was one of our goals, and it also felt reminiscent of one of the most beautiful details at The Bellevue Hotel. The main invitation piece featured a classic two letter monogram and script and block fonts, which were engraved with black ink. The inserts were all digitally printed, and they had the same classic feel as the main piece. To tie their luxurious fall wedding invitation together, the invitation and the gates were held together with an ivory satin ribbon and a silver wax seal.
