Emily and John were married on December 30, 2017 at St Matthew Lutheran Church in Springfield, PA before their celebration continued at the Ballroom at Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square. With a wedding date so close to New Year’s Eve, Emily and John embrace whimsy and their own sources of inspiration. It’s safe to say E+J’s invitation was one of the most fun ways to end my 2017 design season!
When we first met, Emily mentioned how much she adored hearts. That simple detail became a major source of inspiration while designing, and I knew I wanted to place quite a few thoughtfully throughout their suite. Guests were greeted by a heart when they revealed their wedding invitation. “We do!” – a phrase Emily and John loved and wanted included – was placed on the bellyband. I thought it was the perfect nod to words that would be said during their ceremony and also ones that related to guests responding to E+J’s wedding with a resounding, “Yes!” Underneath “We do!”, I placed a blush heart. I loved this welcome!
Emily and John’s color palette also included gold, and Emily wanted the main invitation piece to pop beautifully. She also noted she loved when a couple’s names are printed in a larger font than the rest of the suite because it felt modern to her, and it does to me too! Larger names and a blush heart filled the main invitation piece, plus I also added gold stars. The stars were printed using thermography, or raised printing, and the gold even included gold glitter in the ink!
Take a peek below at the photos Carly is Inspired styled and Carly Fuller Photography captured. From the thermography details to the digitally printed inserts and bellyband, I think you will see why I loved the results of Emily and John’s suite. The details will always remind of them, and I hope they serve as inspiration for future couples.
