Is it October already? Wow! That means wedding season is starting to wind down, with one last hurrah for those Halloween brides. Then, it’s planning time. That is the time of year when custom wedding stationery trends start to emerge.
Do you like to stay ahead of the curve? So does every custom wedding stationery designer! Here are a few things that I can foresee being huge in 2016:
Wood Invites
Having a rustic wedding? Wood is the next big thing for rustic wedding invitations! If you think about it, it’s just a rustic version of paper. You can screen print and foil print on wood to make custom wedding invitations, and for most colors, you can also use plain old ink.
I won’t lie, though: wood invitations are expensive! I recently created an invitation for a rustic chic distillery styled shoot that had a wood grain pattern on the bellyband. Wood-inspired accents are great for a more eclectic invitation suite, while wood as a central theme is perfect for a wedding that’s committed to a rustic motif.
Gold Foil
I just did a post on ways to use gold on your wedding invitations. It looks like gold foil will be making a splash again next year! Lauren and Ashley’s hot pink letterpress wedding invitation suite used a gold foil design. Foil stamping is a technique that is great for dark papers, when printed ink would be difficult to read.
Watercolor
Ombre and watercolor are still going strong on custom wedding stationery! You can adapt this trend to any wedding invitation, any theme, any season. The treasury of the sea styled shoot featured blue ombre wedding stationery. For a different take, check out Becca and Paul’s wedding invitations, which featured pen and ink drawings accented with soft watercolor accents.
Monograms
More and more of my couples are wanting monograms!
